Not All Sweeteners Are Created Equal.
Stevia, monk fruit, erythritol, and xylitol may share shelf space, but that’s where the similarities end. Steviol glycosides from the stevia plant can range from clean-sweet to noticeably bitter depending on which compounds are isolated, while mogroside V from monk fruit carries its own distinct flavor character. Sourcing, extraction methods, and glycoside ratios vary widely among suppliers — and those differences have a direct impact on flavor, purity, and finished product quality.
